How the Joplin Homeless Coalition Works

The Coalition is not a single shelter or program. We are a collaborative network of organizations working together to address homelessness more effectively.

Our work includes:

  • Coordinating housing access through the Continuum of Care

  • Supporting street outreach and engagement efforts

  • Maintaining a shared Community Resource Guide

  • Convening agencies, advocates, and stakeholders

  • Promoting data-driven and humane responses to homelessness

By working together, we reduce duplication, close gaps in services, and help people move toward stable housing.

Understanding Homelessness in Our Community

Local data helps the Joplin Homeless Coalition and our partners understand trends, measure progress, and coordinate services across Jasper and Newton Counties. The information shared here reflects community-wide data used for planning, reporting, and improving housing outcomes.

Our local data includes:

  • Length of time individuals remain homeless

  • Returns to homelessness after housing placement

  • The number of people experiencing homelessness

  • Employment and income growth among participants

  • Individuals experiencing homelessness for the first time

  • Exits from street outreach, residential settings, and housing retention

This data is reviewed regularly and used to support collaborative decision making, align resources, and promote housing focused, data informed solutions within our Continuum of Care.
